Shubet Mountain: The highest mountain in the Department of Amazonas, located at only 5 hours from Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodge. Close to Shubet our team discovered a brand new archaeological site in August 2005.

Cuchacuella Lake: Large pristine alpine lake located at 4 hours from Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodge.
Fortress Kuelap: Kuelap is twice as old as the Inca Empire and its stonework remains in remarkably good condition. It was built by the Chachapoyan Cloud People (most likely) to stop the invasion of the Andes most spectacular Tiahuanaco/ Huari Empire advancing from Bolivia. The fortress is located at only 35 minutes from Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodge.

Huiquilla Reserve: The biggest private reserve in our zone with 1,142 hectares, 1.5 miles (hiking) from the Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodge.
GRAN VILAYA
Gran Vilaya is a valley where the main trunk Amazon River is leading the Andes to enter the Basin. The first expeditions over 20 years ago discovered thousands of cloud forest structures covered by orchids and bromeliads. A short trip can be done from the lodge to some of the Gran Vilaya area. This can be as short as a 3 day trip or longer to see more ruins.
